A NEW Madison model log home is underway at Smith Mountain Lake in Franklin County [Virginia], not too far from Rt 40.

This is a very popular design.
Big windows on the "other" view side.

I will give everyone an alert here and on Facebook when the logs walls are being raised so that you can come over with a friend to see what that part of the log home process looks like.

The material package "estimate" including basement windows and doors is ... $79,190. Add in the shipping estimate based on zip code, sales tax and a dry-in construction estimate and the cost comes to around $127,711.

The option to upgrade to larger 8x8 or 6x12 logs and premium windows will increase the material package costs by approximately $19,000 to around $147,000.

The total turnkey "cost estimate" could be under $400,000 depending on your tastes. This estimate includes site prep, permits, foundation, HVAC, plumbing, appliance allotment and rough construction driveway.

This will give you some idea what your new log cabin will cost when decision making comes around. Please note also that this cabin should appreciate in value over time ... under normal economic conditions.
