It has been suggested to me that critters like squirrels and deer seek salt. That may be why they are chewing on your home. So, perhaps you can add a small salt lick in your yard away from the house as a way to draw critters toward what they are really seeking. I have not verified this.

Critter Ridder irritates the paws and mouth of a variety of animals. 

Deer Off adds eggs smell to the other repellents in this mixture.
