New 8 x 12 log offered

Honest Abe Log Homes announced that they now offer a new 8 x 12 log for log homes. It is suitable for log homes in the cooler and colder climate zones North of the Mason-Dixon Line. This 8 x 12 T&G log provides more thermal mass and better insulation value. These logs have dovetail corners. Eastern White Pine is the recommended wood species.

The Honest Abe 10 inch round logs are also quite good for the Northern tier of states. These logs are done in the Swedish cope style. The purlin roof system is available as well as our standard heavy timber roof system with 4x8 Douglas Fir beams and 2x8 premium spruce T&G.

If you have email, we have been sending your updates periodically. The latest news is that we are attending the Honest Abe dealer convention in Nashville. As usual, there will be a few announcements that may be of interest to you.

My next task is to complete the *initial estimates* for buyers we met at the Raleigh Log Homes Show. We received a number of requests for log home, timber frame home, RuStick and hybrid pricing for the floor plans they provided.

Dry in and turnkey pricing can be *estimated* but that requires more detailed discussions with you about your preferences - location, when, basement or crawl space, garage, and much more. Then we can provide a more accurate pricing.

If you have not supplied us with information about the home style you prefer with square footage, bedrooms and bathrooms, then you can email that information to me.
